THREE PLAYERS FROM 2009 SR. CHOWDER CUP SELECTED IN
FIRST ROUND OF 2010 NHL ENTRY DRAFT!!

It may pay to play in the Senior Chowder Cup. Three players from last year's tournament were selected last night in the First Round of the  2010 NHL Entry Draft. They were Ryan Johansen, who played with Lou Gravel's Team Canada West Team, going 4th overall to the Columbus BlueJackets. Kevin Hayes, who played for Scott Harlow on his Whalers team, went 24th in the first round to the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, and Charlie Coyle, who also played for Coach Harlow, was selected 28th overall by old friend, and Director of Scouting, Tim Burke  of the San Jose Sharks.
Another player who went in the First Round was Beau Bennett. Beau played for Chris Master's and the Jr. Bruins in the 2007 Jr. Chowder Cup and was drafted 20th overall by the Pittsburg Penguins.
The second player chosen in the 2nd Round was Jared Knight by the Boston Bruins. Jared played for coach John Walter's and the Ontario Shamrocks in the 2008 Sr. Chowder Cup.
Connor Brickley, who also played in the 2007 Jr. Chowder Cup for Frank O'Connor's New England Nordiques, was chosen 50th overall in the 2nd Round by the Florida Panthers.
Billy Arnold, another member of Scott Harlow's Whalers Team in the 2009 Sr. Chowder Cup, was selected in the 4th Round by the Calgary Flames.
RJ Boyd, who played on numerous Florida Eels teams for coach Frank Scarpaci in the Pre-Draft Tournament, Jr. Chowder Cup, and Sr. Chowder Cups, was chosen in the 7th Round by the Florida Panthers. RJ becomes the first player drafted out of the Junior Eels Program by a Florida NHL Team.
