INAUGURAL "MIDGET FALL CLASSIC"
Scott Harlow, Manager of the Foxboro Sports Center, and former Boston College standout, has announced that he will be hosting his First Annual Midget Fall Classic this coming October 10th, 11th & 12th at the Foxboro Sports Center, Foxboro, Massachusetts.
Scott has asked Mike O'Connell, who runs his Chowder Cup tournaments at Foxboro, to Direct his initial tournament this coming Fall.
Mike has agreed and will bring in his Staff which will include Referees from the Boston Chapter of NIHOA, Certified EMT's to cover each game, as well as computers in scorers boxes to record all games in Real Time.

There will be Two 12 Team Divisions. One will be a U18 Division for players born in 1991 & 1992 and the other will be a U16 Division for players born in 1993 &1994.
Cost for the Tournament will be $1,650 per team and if you would like to enter your team please contact Mike O'Connell at michaeljoconnell @comcast.net.

Connecticut Chiefs First Team to Enter Midget Fall Classic
Old friend Brandon Johnson, former Assistant Coach of the Ct. Clippers, and behind the bench during many Chowder Cup Tournaments, has entered his new team, the Connecticut Chiefs U16's , as the very first entry in the Inaugural Fall Classic Event.

Pro-Skill's Tom Milne Names Top Assistants
Tom Milne, Head Coach of Pro-Skills Hockey, a finalist in last year's Junior Chowder Cup, as well as always a top contender in the Pre-Draft Showcase and Senior Chowder Cup, has added quite a coaching Staff to assist him here in Boston this coming summer. Assisting Tom will be Marty Williamson, Head Coach of the Barrie Colts of the OHL, Jeff Beukeboom, a four time Stanley Cup winner, as well as former NHL player Drake Berehowsky. Jeff and Drake are also Assistant Coaches with the Barrie Colts during the regular OHL season.



Mini-Chowder Cup Has Pro Flavor!!
Ryan Barnes, GM of Barnes Hockey, has announced that he will be entering a team into the 1995 Division of the 2009 Mini-Chowder Cup. The team, sponsored by the Newmarket Hurricanes, with be called the Newmarket Jr. Hurricanes and will be be coached by Greg Ireland, Head Coach of the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League. Neil Shea, coach of the Clovers in the '95 Division, is the New England Scout for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League.

CAN AM TO DEFEND CHOWDER CUP TITLE
Phil Barbara, long time coach of Can Am, has notified the Chowder Cup that he will be returning in 2009 to defend the Jr. A Elite Crown he won last year here in Boston. Can Am perennially comes in strong and Phil hopes to put a club together that will be the team to beat. We don't doubt him.

SASKATCHEWAN TEAM RETURNS TO WOMEN'S CHOWDER CUP!
Allan Landry, Coach of Sask.-Canada U19, a participant in the Inaugural Women's Chowder Cup, will make the 3,000 mile trip to Boston this summer to once again compete in the Angela Ruggiero Women's Chowder Cup. Allan's Team, which will have some high end players, is looking forward to showcasing his girls in the Double AA Division of the Tournament. Good Luck Allan!



East Coast Selects To Enter European Team In Junior Chowder Cup
Travis Bezio, Coach of the East Coast Selects out of the Howe Hockey Development Program, will also feature a team consisting of players from Sweden and Finland in the 1993 Division of the 2009 Junior Chowder Cup. Five players, who were members of last year's team, made their respective Swedish and Finnish National Teams. They were:
GK-, Due-Boje Marcus-SWE (Djurgardens IF), GK, Stee Stefan-SWE (Leksands IF), D, Lilliequist Pontus-SWE (Djurgardens IF), C, Rask Victor-SWE (Leksands IF), and D-Ronning Alex-FIN-(AIK).
Coach Bezio expects this year's team to be even stronger than last years' and updates will follow after the first of the year as players commit to this team.

Top Teams Commit to 2009 Chowder Cup!!
Allan Power, who has the longest tenure in the Chowder Cup, and a Finalist in 2008, has announced that he will once again be returning with his Atlantic Canadians Team to compete in the 2009 Tournament. Other early returnees are: Bob Thornton (N.J. Rockets), Joe Quinn (Rideau Rockets), Randy Kerr (Niagara Vipers), Ryan Schmidt (Carolina Stars), Scott Gainey (Connecticut Wings), Harry Vanden Broek (Birch Broek Stars), and Peter Ward of the Beantown Bullies. *Congratulations go out to Peter Ward as he was recently named an Assistant Director of Player Personnel for the National Team Development Program.


Polar Stars/Assabet Valley Commit to 2009 Women's Chowder Cup!
The Connecticut Polar Stars, winners of the 2008 Double AA Division of the Women's Chowder Cup, and Assabet Valley, winner of the Single A Division, have both announced that they will be returning to the 2009 Tournament to try and defend their titles. The commitments came from Coaches Tom Ketchum of the Polar Stars and Bill Horan of Assabet. Other notable early entries for 2009 are: Greg Packer/Mary Cahill with their Little Caesars Teams, Carl Van Bolderen of the Ohio Flames with his Energy in Motion team,  Matt Smith with the Global Hockey Selects, Jane Solverson with SE District, Jeanna Dippel, with the NY Central Dragons, Carl Menard with the Competitive Edge Rebels, John Curtin of the Brewster Lady Bulldogs, Frank Pietrangelo of the Niagara Vipers, Missy Wilson of the New Jersey Rockets, and John Hindle with the Belle Tire/Ct. Yankees team. Further entries will soon be listed.
