Weekly Updates
This is our new Weekly Update Page. We will not only keep you informed of current events with our tournaments, but also do updates throughout the year on players who participated in our 2011 Tournaments.
Congratulations to Victor Rask and William Karlsson on winning the Gold Medal in the World Junior Championship in overtime last night for the Sweden U20 National Team against Russia 1-0. In 2009, through the efforts of Coach Lou Gravel (Team Canada West), both of these players participated in the Junior Chowder Cup here in Boston. Rask played for Lou's Euro Selects and Karlsson played for Team Canada West. It shouldn't be too long before both of these players are playing in the NHL. We wish them the best of luck.
Chris Kanaly, Goaltender Coach for the Trenton Titans of the ECHL, has entered his Team Kanaly team into the Pre-Draft Tournament for the fourth straight year. We wish Chris the best of luck in the 2012 Tournament.
Angela Ruggiero, considered the best player in USA Women's Hockey to date, has officially announced her retirement as an active player for USA Hockey's National Team Program. Angela will now concentrate on being a member of the USA Olympic Hockey Committee as well as a member of the prestigious International Olympic Committee (IOC). We are fortunate to know that Angela will continue working with the Pro-Am's Angela Ruggiero Women's Chowder Cup, named in her honor. We wish Angela all the success in her future endeavors.

Allan Landry, General Manager of Team Sask-Can from Saskatchewan in Western Canada, has announced that he will be returning with his team to play in the 2012 Angela Ruggiero Women's Chowder Cup. His team will play in the tournament this coming July and then head to New York City for some sightseeing.

Coach Lou Gravel, has announced that Ryan Johansen, a 4th overall pick in the NHL Entry Draft in 2010, has made the Columbus Blue Jackets opening night roster. Coach Gravel also announced, that Brett Buhlmer has made the opening night roster for the Minnesota Wild. Both players were on Lou's Team Canada West 1992 team in the Junior Chowder Cup.
